The Rice and Fall of a Unique Kiddie Book Hero

Rice is the staple food of the Filipinos. And in this book The Adventures of Gabby Ghas: Palay-Bigas-Kanin, a grain of rice comes alive and lets it sentiments know about the nature of being.

‘I think, therefore I am’ applies to how Gabby Ghas identifies with the importance of being one’s self and later becoming a positive contributor to society. We see how a particular food grows from seedling to plant, and in the course of the story, how Gabby copes with different situations and also how our main character overcomes obstacles in this series of colorful exploits.

Reading the book from start to finish is a most rewarding experience, and I enjoin readers, young and old, to rediscover and verily appreciate the beauty of our very own bigas.
